Man who allegedly stole 2 LGBTQ flags from Guerneville Chamber of Commerce arrested

SONOMA COUNTY (KRON) – Authorities on Saturday arrested a man who allegedly stole two LGBTQ rainbow flags from the Guerneville Chamber of Commerce and also threatened to make a pipe bomb to blow up at a Guerneville Safeway and sheriff substation, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say 55-year-old Vincent Joseph O’Sullivan of Guerneville is suspected of stealing a  LGBTQ rainbow flag in two separate incidents.

The first rainbow flag was stolen on April 26 from the flagpole at the Guerneville Chamber of Commerce and a replacement flag was stolen on May 5 from the same location.

Additionally, authorities say they were made aware of threats to manufacture a pipe bomb to detonate it at the Guerneville Safeway and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Guerneville substation to injure members of the LGBTQ community as well as deputies, officials say.

O’Sullivan was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.

His bail has been set at $50,000.
