Guerneville’s weekly farmers market reopens this Thursday, June 7, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the field behind the firehouse on Armstrong Woods Road.
Free summer music concerts will also resume this month starting with a June 21 performance by Zepparella, an all-female band paying tribute to the music of Led Zeppelin. The concerts take place every other Thursday evening in the Guerneville town plaza starting around 7 p.m.
“We’re in our 8th year” producing the free summer concerts, said Herman Hernandez of the Russian River Rotary that sponsors the program along with the Russian River Recreation and Park District. “It’s a strong lineup.”
The Everly Brothers Experience featuring the Zmed Brothers will perform the hit music of the Everly Brothers duo on July 5. The L.A. salsa band Grupo Invasion Latina will be in town on July 19. Rock ‘n’ roll band Luvplanet will play on Aug. 2. San Francisco Airship, a group that pays tribute to the Jefferson Airplane band, will play Aug. 16, followed by blues guitarist and singer Coco Montoya who headlines on Aug. 30. The final concert on Sept. 13 concert features Midnight Sun playing “Afribbean Soul.”
Starting this week, the Russian River Farmers Market is open every Thursday through September from 3 to 7 p.m. The market offers fresh produce and crafts by local artisans.
Pegi Ball, manager of the Santa Rosa Farmers Market, is helping run the Guerneville market this summer and is expected to bring in some new vendors, said Connie Schlabach who has been orchestrating the Guerneville Market since it opened eight years ago.
“I’m still in the background to help out,” said Schlabach. “But I think Pegi will bring in a lot of different vendors.”
